About Mina Thevenin, LCSW

About Mina Thevenin, LCSW: Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to join you on your path in this moment.

Welcome and thank you for visiting the www.kentuckianacounseling.org website. I would like to introduce you to my private practice as a licensed clinical social worker, offer mental health articles on wellness and provide links to community resources.

My name is Mina (pronounced Meena)Thevenin, LCSW, PLLC. I have been a clinical therapist since 1989, serving both Kentucky and Indiana residents…eventually opening my own practice in 2004. Individual, couple and family therapies are offered. My focus work with clients is simple: wellness. Living in balance of mind, body and spirit creates wellness. Whether my help takes form in a therapeutic relationship or giving a smile to a passer-by, the piece in balance (peace in balance) is available to all of us…reaching out to us, from us in every moment, every thought, every breath. Incredible.

Perhaps a smile is part of a whole. Imagine that this simple act creates a chain response, a butterfly effect, Doppler- like the rings of the water droplet. Buddhist thought ascribes that one is unable to distinguish between where the water droplet begins and the ocean begins… “And when you do this to the least of these- my brothers and sisters, you do this to me,” Jesus.

When I take care of my mind, body and spirit, I am affecting my place in this world to be positive. This awareness reminds me that I am also taking care of you, too.

You know, I am talking about smiles and water and you may be wondering what this really has to do with balance in wellness. Another perception I invite you to consider is to look at all of this as a metaphor… be aware that each thought you have, each feeling, each act- effects not only your peace but also the peace of others.

So, in that spirit, I give to you a smile.

credendo vides,
Mina Thevenin

We are all here such a short time…you are purpose— already—you know. Somewhere within, you know this truth. Our roles day in and day out are merely opportunities to be who we truly are IN the right now.

Along life’s path in growing up we tend to move away from this simple awareness of living in the moment and  instead, seek identification of self in outward “things”. We look for identity in money, in objects, relationships, obsessions, possessions, control, power, and chemicals. For many a person this leads to gradually defining self as attachment to “thing”, so much so, that we slip into a routine of falsely defining self in things. But again, deep inside, we know this is not truth.

More about Mina Thevenin, LCSW

I work with everyday kind of people and some who believe they walk to the beat of a different drummer, but even they are just people. Depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, chronic pain management, chemical abuse/dependency issues, relationship issues for adults-straight, gay or somewhere in-between, communication needs, parent/child issues—I have a 17 year old son—I know, we’re all just people! My service for others as a licensed clinical social worker began almost thirty years ago in Kentucky and Indiana, thus the name: kentuckianacounseling.org. In addition to civilian people I also serve our active duty, retired veterans and their families.

My practice is positive focus: balance in mind/body/spirit.

I work with individuals, couples, families, parent/child and teens.  I am a Christian and believe that one’s greatest strides into awakening awareness comes from the gift of your own spirituality. The authentic you, living and being in the now of today—this is where we start. We begin together.

Peace to You,

Mina Thevenin, LCSW

The scope of my work is one of service. I graduated from the R.A. Kent school of social work in 1989 and took the tract of clinical social worker, incorporating therapies that include:  systems, cognitive/behavioral, and mindfulness focus. In addition to working with individuals, couples, families and parent-child, areas of emphasis have included grief work, depression and anxiety, communication skills, conflict resolution, trauma survivors, eating disorders, alcoholism recovery, and solution-focused awareness.

Therapist and family hats off, I am also a professional writer and photographer (all the images appearing in this website were taken by me, except the photo of me below). You can see  more of my work at Photography World, Ltd Co and minathevenin.com
